Education to Easier Employment
Austian Development Agency (ADA) though its EU funded „Socio-economic Development of Danube Serbia Region“ project has granted 175.000 EUR to Regional Center for Socio-economic Development Banat for establishement of Regional Educational Center Banat. This center helps unemployeed residents of this region to improve their skills and knowledge or to change their professional orientation in accordance with modern requirements of the labour market. The goal of this project is to reduce unemployment rate and to position Banat region as a community based on knowledge and social cohesion with increasing number of new, better paid jobs.
Regional Education Center Banat has opened in September this year, thus setting up the institutional system for informal education in the region. Center’s target groups are unemployeed persons, employees who need to improve their knowledge and business skills, employers, potential investors, organisations dealing with adult education and schools.
Soon after opening, the Center has signed Cooperation Agreements with 62 education service providers, thus establishing a high quality resource base that can meet any market’s demand. In cooperation with the Zrenjanin branch office of National Employment Agency, the Center has organized employment fair bringing together 29 employers who were looking to fill 219 vacancies. One of the Project’s key areas of interest is promotion of Corporate Social Responsability concept, and Project has already provided seminars on this topic for over 50 representatives of business sector.
The project has also produced „Study on Employers’ Current and Future Needs and Restrictions for Certain Qualifications of Employees“, aiming to identify future types of the skills required at the labour market and accordingly prepare new training curriculums within Regional Education Center. As a result, the Center developed 9 training modules and has already trained over 170 unemployeed persons, while 60 most successful candidates are about to start two-months paid internships at 20 different companies. Goal of the project is that at least 15 candidates, after completed internship, sign long term employment contracts.
