Danube Stream for Green Dream
Vojvodina Environmental Movement’s project “Stream4Green” aims at development of ecotourism as a key instrument in the fight against poverty, the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development. European Union supported the project with the 193.000 euros through “Socio-economic Development of Danube Serbia Region” project, implemented by Austrian Development Agency.
“Stream4Green” project utilizes wealth of natural resources in the area and develops innovative eco-tourism products providing authentic educational, recreational and gastronomic experiences for those coming to this region. It also creates sustainable job opportunities for community members, by involving them into development of joint products. The goal of the Project is that the products receive international certificates “Eco-label” or “Green Sticker” as a proof of their ecological orientation.
Some of the key eco – tourism products that will be developed through this project are reconstruction of the mountain hut “Strazilovo” into energy efficient building with 50 beds, fully equipped for organization of educational and sports activities. Facilities will amongst other include artificial climbing rock and modern sport terrains. The project is also working on setting up a multifunctional summer classroom for different educational activities. For those up for exploring Fruska Gora, Project is working on mapping of 20 km of hiking and bike riding trails. Tourist offer will further be enhanced by procurement of a catamaran for transportation of tourist groups over Danube, as well as five canoes for recreational river ride.
